Family Volunteering

Bringing your children to volunteer with you can be an exciting family activity and a great way to broaden their perceptions of the community. In our online project database and newsletter, projects that allow family volunteering are advertised as Good for Families. Please note children 15 and under must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

Please Note:

All projects have a specified minimum age. All volunteers must meet the minimum age requirement for each project.

To effectively support the experience of all volunteers at the project, we require one adult volunteer to be present for every four children age 15 and under.

Projects occasionally fill up months ahead of time so make sure you view all of our family friendly projects and sign up while there is still space available.

Get Started Here:

In order to volunteer with your child age 15 or under, the adult must first:

1
Become a member of HandsOn Bay Area by participating in the Online
Orientation. Click here to get started.

2
Sign-up for the appropriate Good for Family project.
Click here for current Good for Families projects.

3   Then, to save spaces for the child volunteers, send an email togoodforfamilies@hoba.org indicating the title of the project, the date, and the
names and ages of the youth accompanying you. You can also contact the designated project leader via email. If your child wants to bring a friend, please be sure to save the additional space in the project in the Anon slot and have the friend bring a minor waiver form signed by a parent or guardian. Click here for the minor waiver form.
