About the Executive Transition

In May, Hands On Bay Area (HOBA) said goodbye to its executive director, Jim Pitofsky.  Jim, his wife Becky, and their newborn son Asher have moved to Phoenix, where Jim has taken a Director position at the Arizona Community Foundation.

“The Board is deeply grateful for Jim’s tremendous work,” explained Kevin Kearney, current Chair of the Board and longtime HOBA volunteer.  “HOBA is stronger than ever, and our impact on the community is both broader and deeper than ever. Because of Jim’s leadership, I can say today that I am very confident in the Board and staff’s capacity to keep HOBA moving in this positive direction.”

The Board’s confidence in the current staff is demonstrated by their appointment of HOBA’s current program director, Lou Reda, as Interim Executive Director, and HOBA’s current operations director, Hans Wuerfmannsdobler as Chief Operations Officer.  Both are veteran HOBA employees.

HOBA’s current organizational health positions the organization for tremendous growth. The Board is seeking candidates to fill the executive director position who are entrepreneurial leaders able to envision the organization’s future and to mobilize stakeholders and resources to get there. Please click here to read more about the available position.
