When you access the Site, we may send one or more cookies - small text files containing a string of alphanumeric characters - to your computer. We may use both session cookies and persistent cookies. A session cookie disappears after you close your browser. A persistent cookie remains after you close your browser and may be used by your browser on subsequent visits to the Site. Persistent cookies can be removed. Please review your Web browser’s “Help” file to learn how to modify your browser’s cookie settings. Additionally, we may automatically collect certain information from you by analyzing your use of the Site, such as your IP address, browser type, pages accessed, and duration of visit.

We use automatically-collected information to administer, operate, and improve the Site and our other services and systems, and may use it to provide content and services that are tailored to you. If automatically-collected information is used or intended to be used to identify you, it is Personal Information for purposes of this Policy. Additionally, if we associate or combine this information with Personal Information, we will treat the associated or combined information as Personal Information under this Policy.

We may also obtain information, including Personal Information, from third parties and sources other than the Site. If we combine or associate information from other sources with Personal Information that we collect through the Site, we will treat the combined information as “Personal Information” in accordance with this Policy.

2. Use of Personal Information

We use the information that you provide or that we collect to operate, maintain, enhance, and provide our programs and services, including the features accessible through the Site. Personal Information that we collect allows us to facilitate and track donations made to us and participation in our programs. In addition, Personal Information collected allows us to provide our registered users with event notices, our newsletter, other administrative communications, and information about programs, features, services, and opportunities that we believe our users may find of interest.

3. Disclosure of Personal Information

Except as described in this Policy, we do not share Personal Information with third parties without your consent.

We may use some Personal Information that you provide to us on the Site, such as in profiles about some of our volunteers or registered users, and in other promotional materials that we publish or distribute.

We may provide Personal Information to affiliated organizations or other third parties for their use in performing internal functions (e.g., donation processing, shipping, data hosting, or administrative services) on our behalf. For example, we provide our volunteer Project Leaders with Personal Information collected from our registered members for use by those volunteers in assisting us with collecting attendance at our project sites or other activities. These volunteers, and all other third parties that perform internal functions on our behalf, are only authorized by us to use Personal Information for the purposes for which it is made available to them.

We also may disclose Personal Information if we have a good-faith belief that doing so is required by a subpoena or other judicial or administrative order or otherwise required by law. Additionally, we may disclose Personal Information where we, in good faith, deem it appropriate or necessary to prevent violation of the Terms of Service, or our other agreements; take precautions against liability; protect the rights, property, or safety of any individual or the general public; maintain and protect the security and integrity of our services or infrastructure; protect ourselves and our services from fraudulent, abusive, or unlawful uses; investigate and defend ourselves against third-party claims or allegations; or assist government enforcement agencies.

Additionally, in the event of a change in ownership, or a merger with, acquisition by, or sale of assets to, another organization or entity, we reserve the right to transfer all of your Personal Information to that organization or entity.

4. Your Choices

You may update certain categories of Personal Information that we have collected about you, and may update your email communication preferences, by logging in to your HOBA member account.

Once we receive your transmission of Personal Information, we use reasonable efforts to maintain the security of our systems. We cannot, however, guarantee that Personal Information will not be accessed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed. If we learn of a security systems breach, we may post a notice on the Site and may attempt to notify you electronically.
